Note from Bill Holdsworth:

Hello, friends,

I am writing to spread the word about an exhibition that’s coming to the

National Guard Armory, 1046 Belvoir Rd, Plymouth Meeting on February 17th, from 10am to 5pm.

Sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans of America, Valley Forge Chapter 349. Donations benefit the Montgomery County Veterans Honor Guard who perform tributes at burials and other charitable causes throughout Montgomery County. It’s advertised as being the largest indoor military history experience of its type. Living history groups and exhibitors will display military vehicles, displays, weapons, period military equipment and wartime memorabilia. Authentic “encampments” will be created featuring WWII medics, various infantry and artillery units, and a  Vietnam command post, with historians ready to engage the public to answer questions and demonstrate items. All of this covers the era of WWII through Vietnam. The hosts of the event ask that any and all Veterans able to attend do so and are also asked to bring their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

I attended last year’s event and it was spectacular. Most of the displays are hands-on with the permission of the owner. If you’ve ever wanted to sight down the barrel of an M1 Garand, a 1903 Springfield, or, to hold a military grade Tommy Gun or a BAR, this is the event to attend. The living historians that attend are very knowledgeable and more than willing to share information.

More amazing than the items are the Veterans that attend. I had the privilege and honor to meet a Bataan Death March survivor, two Pearl Harbor survivors, a Tuskeegee Airman and others I can’t now recall.

I hope to see some of you there. Perhaps some on copy here participate as exhibitors or historians. If anyone has more info to share, feel free to reply to all.

Happy New Year and kindest regards,

Bill H
